Ethical Selling In the 21st Century

Welcome to the new world of selling!
The 54 million dollar question is; “What’s different about selling in 21st century or the information age?” The correct answer to this question will put you on the path to making a great living in sales. Some sales managers say; “Nothing about sales is different in the 21st century, it’s all about the Benjamins!” Though the Benjamins (hundred dollar bills) are good, things are different in the times we live in.

SELLING IN THE INFORMATION AGE
Let's face it, the internet has changed the playing field in sales. Let me illustrate; I can use my mouse and click my way into information on any product or service I need in just seconds today. I can also go to Consumer Reports, your competitor’s website, and numerous blogs about your product or service.
The “mouse” has changed selling forever. In essence, the biggest fool today is the salesperson who is trying to fool the customer. A customer shopping for a new car today can find out what the dealer paid for the vehicle and make an offer to purchase from a position of knowledge versus ignorance. It was not that way before the information age. The bottom line is, customers today have a serious information advantage. So what should we who make a living selling do? Practice ethical selling. Ethical selling is to seek to serve the customer first. It is a customer first policy!
